What to Look For
A quality concrete or asphalt finish shows itself in the details. Look for consistent colour across the slab, control joints cut at the right spacing so cracks stay controlled, edges that are clean and sharp rather than ragged, and a surface that drains properly — no low spots where water can pool. On asphalt, the surface should be dense and smooth, with neat edges against kerbs and gardens. On paving, joints should be tight and level, with no individual pavers rocking underfoot. These are the things that separate a job that lasts thirty years from one that starts failing in five.
